Former Public Defender Offers Local DUI Defense

Pasadena attorney Ann A. Gottesman, a former deputy public defender in Riverside, opened a new office in Pasadena in April of 2009. As a litigator with experience working with the judges and prosecutors of the area, she is in a position to offer an educated local defense for those accused with driving under the influence (DUI).

“Ann A. Gottesman is the best possible choice for someone accused of driving under the influence here in Pasadena,” said a spokesperson for the firm. “Her service in the public defenders office not only gave her the experience to win cases, but also familiarized her with judges and prosecutors that other local attorneys have yet to meet. This enables her to get the job done more efficiently and save her clients excessive fines and/or jail time.”

A conviction for a first offense for DUI in California brings with it a fine of $390 to $1000 and a jail or prison term of 24 hours to six months. It also comes with a license suspension of six months, with the opportunity to obtain a restricted license after 30 days. If convicted a second time in a ten year period the jail term can be up to one year and the license suspension is up to two years. From there, the fines and incarceration periods get higher and longer respectively for each additional offense within a ten year period.

“Avoiding the first conviction is critical,” said our spokesperson. “Once the courts have found you guilty the first time you can get caught in an endless cycle that could result in permanent loss of license. Even minor infractions after that will be examined closely and you’ll be tested for intoxication every time you get pulled over. Ann A. Gottesman fights hard for her clients to avoid a first conviction and her track record of success proves that she’s extremely good at it.”

In addition to being a Pasadena DUI attorney, Ann A. Gottesman is also a successful Pasadena criminal attorney specializing in drug cases, theft, and domestic violence. She clerked for Justice Earl Johnson Jr., of the Second District Court of Appeal while in law school and worked for Marilee Marshall and Associates, a Los Angeles firm specializing in criminal appellate law before becoming an associate for the Law Office of Michael Cabrera in 2006. Prior to private practice she was a public defender in Riverside.
